Because of its high strength and relatively light weight, A2017 aluminum alloy has become an ideal material for many applications, especially those parts and components that require high strength but want to remain lightweight. Due to the high copper content in A2017 aluminum alloy, its corrosion resistance is relatively poor. The presence of copper in the alloy may cause corrosion problems under certain environmental conditions.

Copper Cu: 0.10

Magnesium Mg: 2.6~3.6

Zinc Zn: 0.2

Manganese Mn: 0.50

Chromium Cr: 0.30

Iron Fe: 0.40

Mechanical properties of A2017 aluminum plate:

Tensile strength σb (MPa) 170~305

Conditional yield strength σ0.2 (MPa)≥70< /p>

Elastic modulus: E 69.3-70.7Gpa

Annealing temperature: 345°C.

Quality characteristics

Density: 2.85g/cm3.

In order to overcome this problem, the following measures can be taken: Surface treatment: Increase the corrosion resistance of A2017 aluminum alloy through surface treatment such as anodizing, coating or plating. These treatments can form a protective layer to prevent harmful substances from penetrating into the interior of the alloy.

Material selection: In applications where corrosion resistance is particularly required, other aluminum alloys with better corrosion resistance, such as A6061 or A7075 aluminum alloys, may be considered.

Maintenance and care: Regular care and maintenance can reduce the risk of corrosion. For example, measures such as regular cleaning and coating with anti-corrosion agents can extend the service life of A2017 aluminum alloy.

In summary, although A2017 aluminum alloy has the advantages of high strength and lightweight, its corrosion resistance is relatively poor due to its high copper content. Therefore, when selecting an application, a comprehensive evaluation and selection must be made based on specific requirements and environmental conditions.
