Thick-Wall Straight Cylinder Forging Blank

随机图片

Thick-walled, straight-cylinder forged blanks are critical foundation components for manufacturing heavy-duty equipment such as high-pressure vessels and nuclear island components. They are typically produced using a solid forging process to ensure the density of the material microstructure and the reliability of performance. These forgings are usually highly customized, with their specific material, dimensions, and performance requirements determined by the end application.

Common Materials and Grades

The selection of materials depends on the operating environment (e.g., temperature, pressure, and medium) and the required mechanical properties. The main categories and typical applications are as follows:

Carbon Steel: Complies with standards such as GB/T 1591 Relatively low cost; suitable for pressure vessels and structural components requiring general strength.

Alloy Structural Steel: Complies with standards such as JB/T 6396 and NB/T 47008; examples include 42CrMo4 Excellent overall mechanical properties with a good balance of strength and toughness; a common choice for components in construction machinery, petroleum machinery, and similar applications.

Stainless Steel: Complies with standards such as NB/T 47010 Offers excellent corrosion resistance and is used in fields such as chemical engineering and marine engineering.

High-Alloy Heat-Resistant Steel: GB/T 41982-2022 standard Specifically designed for power plants, used to manufacture thick-walled pipes and forgings for high-temperature, high-pressure environments.

Dimension Range

The dimension range for large cylindrical forgings is:

Diameter: ≥ 3500 mm

Height: 1500 mm – 3000 mm

Weight: 25 metric tons to 200 metric tons

Extra-large thick-walled cylinders: In certain specific technical applications, dimensions far exceed the above standards:

Diameter: Can exceed 4,000 mm

Wall thickness: > 80 mm

General-purpose thick-walled forgings: Some manufacturers’ production capabilities cover a wide range of forgings, from 100 mm to 6,000 mm in diameter.

Application Areas

Thick-walled straight-cylinder forging blanks are core components of many major pieces of technical equipment, and their application areas are highly concentrated:

Energy and Power: Used in the manufacture of nuclear reactor pressure vessel cylinders and thick-walled pipes made of high-alloy heat-resistant steel for power plants.

Petrochemicals: Used in the manufacture of core equipment such as hydrogenation reactors and pressure vessels.

Heavy Machinery: Used in heavy-duty equipment such as construction machinery and concrete pipe pile molds.
