Hastelloy Forged Ring is a high-performance nickel alloy component designed for severe corrosion, high temperature and demanding industrial service. Compared with conventional stainless steel, Hastelloy alloys are selected when equipment must withstand aggressive chemical media, chloride-containing environments, reducing or oxidizing conditions and long-term operating stress.

Shanghai Changjin Metal Product Co., Ltd. supplies custom Hastelloy forged rings, seamless rolled rings and CNC machined Hastelloy rings according to customer drawings, material specifications and application requirements.

Hastelloy Forged Ring Grades

Common Hastelloy grades used for forged ring applications include:

Grade UNS W.Nr. Typical Characteristics
Hastelloy C276 N10276 2.4819 Excellent resistance to a broad range of aggressive chemical environments
Hastelloy C22 N06022 2.4602 Strong resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and oxidizing media
Hastelloy B2 N10665 2.4617 Excellent resistance to reducing acids and severe chemical service
Hastelloy B3 N10675 2.4600 High corrosion resistance in demanding acid environments
Hastelloy X N06002 2.4665 High-temperature strength and oxidation resistance

Among these materials, Hastelloy C276 Forged Ring and Hastelloy C22 Forged Ring are especially relevant to chemical processing and pollution-control equipment, while B-series alloys are commonly considered for strongly reducing acid environments. Final grade selection should always be confirmed against the customer's process media, temperature and specification.

Custom Hastelloy Forged Ring Sizes

Hastelloy rings can be manufactured to customer drawings in small, medium and large diameters. A typical custom project may involve:

  • Outside Diameter (OD): approximately 100–3,000+ mm
  • Inside Diameter (ID): approximately 50–2,500+ mm
  • Ring Height: approximately 20–1,000 mm
  • Wall Thickness: approximately 20–500 mm
  • Single-piece weight: from several kilograms to several tons
  • Product forms: open-die forged ring, seamless rolled ring and machined ring

These figures are manufacturing reference ranges rather than universal material limits. The practical size depends on Hastelloy grade, forging equipment, starting billet, ring-rolling capacity, heat treatment, machining allowance and final drawing requirements.

Hastelloy Forged Ring Manufacturing Process

A typical manufacturing route is:

Material Verification → Billet Preparation → Controlled Heating → Upsetting & Piercing → Open Die Forging / Ring Rolling → Heat Treatment → Rough Machining → CNC Finish Machining → Inspection → Packing

Forging and seamless ring rolling are used to produce a continuous ring without a welded joint. Depending on the design, the process can be optimized for dimensional accuracy, material utilization and the required mechanical properties. Heat treatment is selected according to the alloy and applicable specification.

CNC Machined Hastelloy Rings

Many Hastelloy forged rings require machining after forging and heat treatment. Our machining scope can include:

  • OD and ID turning
  • Face machining
  • Bore machining
  • Groove and sealing-surface machining
  • Thread machining
  • Keyway and profile machining
  • Precision CNC finish machining

Customers can purchase the ring as a forged blank, rough-machined ring or finished component. Manufacturing can be based on a 2D drawing, 3D model or detailed dimensional specification.

Applications of Hastelloy Forged Rings

Chemical Processing: Hastelloy forged rings are suitable for reactors, heat exchangers, columns, valves, pumps, flanges and other equipment exposed to aggressive chemical media.

Oil & Gas: Custom nickel alloy rings can be used in corrosion-resistant valves, pressure equipment, flanges and components exposed to challenging production environments.

Pollution Control: C276 and C22 are widely considered for demanding flue-gas treatment and environmental process equipment where corrosion resistance is critical.

Power & Energy: Custom Hastelloy components can be manufactured for heat-transfer, process and high-temperature equipment where alloy selection is driven by temperature and corrosion conditions.

Pharmaceutical and Process Equipment: Corrosion-resistant nickel alloy rings can be supplied for custom equipment and components requiring clean, durable and chemically resistant materials.

Inspection and Quality Requirements

For critical Hastelloy forged ring orders, inspection may include chemical composition, material traceability, mechanical testing, hardness testing, positive material identification (PMI), dimensional inspection, ultrasonic testing (UT) and liquid penetrant testing (PT), according to the purchase specification.

Material certificates and inspection documentation can be supplied according to the agreed standard, such as EN 10204 3.1, when required. Applicable ASTM/ASME, customer or project specifications should be confirmed before production.
