Heavy steel as-forged tube
Heavy steel as-forged tube typically refers to seamless thick-walled tubes or hollow forgings manufactured through hot piercing and hot drawing processes. Due to their excellent material density and mechanical properties, these products are widely used in heavy industrial sectors such as energy, petrochemicals, and machinery manufacturing.
Materials and Grades
The choice of material depends on operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, and the corrosiveness of the medium.
Carbon Steel ASTM A105, A181 (Class 60/70), A369 Series , Lower cost; suitable for general-purpose piping and standard pressure conditions.
Chromium-Molybdenum Alloy Steels 4130, 4140, 4340, 42CrMo4, 30CrMo , With excellent overall mechanical properties and a good balance of strength and toughness, these are common choices in the oil and gas and machinery industries.
Ferritic Alloy Steels for High-Temperature Applications , Various ferritic steels covered by ASTM A369, Designed specifically for high-temperature applications, used in high-temperature pressure-bearing components such as power plants and boilers.
Stainless Steel/Corrosion-Resistant Alloys 304/316L, Duplex Stainless Steel (S32205), Nickel-Based Alloys (Inconel 625/718) Offer excellent corrosion resistance and are used in marine engineering, chemical processing, nuclear power, and other fields.
Size Range
The size range of hot-forged tubes is very broad, encompassing both large monolithic forgings and small- to medium-sized products:
Large forgings: We can produce products with outer diameters ranging from 4 inches to 54 inches (approximately 102 mm to 1,372 mm) and weights ranging from 100 pounds to 20 metric tons (approximately 45 kg to 18 metric tons).
Capacity: We can supply various forgings with outer diameters ranging from Φ90 mm to Φ3,500 mm and wall thicknesses from 20 mm to 100 mm, with individual pieces weighing up to 10 metric tons.
Specific Billet Specifications: Stainless steel billets for manufacturing seamless steel pipes, with dimensions ranging from Φ80 mm to Φ560 mm. We are capable of producing extra-large-diameter duplex stainless steel billets ranging from Φ500 mm to Φ600 mm.
Application Areas
Forgings are critical components in many major pieces of technical equipment:
Oil and Gas: Used in the manufacture of wellhead equipment, valves, pipe fittings, and transmission pipelines; this is one of the most widespread application areas.
Power Generation and Boilers: Used for high-temperature, high-pressure components such as headers and piping in power plant boilers; the ASTM A369 standard was established specifically for these applications.
Pressure Vessels and Chemical Processing: Used to manufacture pressure vessels such as reactors, heat exchangers, and columns, as well as corrosion-resistant chemical processing equipment.
Offshore Engineering: Used for critical structures, such as offshore drilling platforms, that must withstand seawater corrosion, requiring highly corrosion-resistant materials such as duplex stainless steel.
Machinery Manufacturing: Used as core blanks for heavy machinery, such as hydraulic cylinder barrels and large shafts.
