Thick-Wall Large Bore Forged Sleeves
Common material grades, typical size ranges, and primary applications for thick-walled, large-diameter forged sleeves:
Common Material Grades
Alloy Steel: 42CrMo4, 34CrNiMo6, 30CrNiMo8, 18CrNiMo7-6, AISI 4140/4340/4150
Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel: Carbon steels such as C45, C35, S355J2G3; and stainless steels such as 304L, 316L, 17-4PH
Dimension Ranges
Outer Diameter (OD): Up to 5000 mm
Length: Typically up to 12 meters; Forgemasters in North America can machine lengths exceeding 400 inches
Major Applications
Oil and Gas: Used in high-pressure applications such as drilling equipment, blowout preventers, and pipe fittings
Power Generation and Heavy Machinery: Used in turbine sleeves, generator components, as well as hydraulic cylinders and bearing sleeves for heavy equipment in mining, construction, and other industries
Gears and Transmission Systems: Serves as the base blank for transmission components such as large internal gear rings and planetary gear carriers
Marine and Aerospace: Used in propeller shaft sleeves, rudder components, and critical load-bearing structural parts such as aircraft landing gear
